Watch two generations of local legends rock the house tonight when BACA returns to The White Eagle/The Office. The band will be performing from 8 p.m. to midnight and there is no cover charge.

BACA consists of Danny Barrette (guitar/vocals) with son Stephan Barrette (guitar/vocals), and Bubba Cale (bass/backing vocals) with son Yannick Cale (drums/vocals). Together, the double father-and-son duo bring decades of experience and entertainment to the stage.

“Danny Barrette played in a band called Main Street,” says renowned bassist Bubba Cale (Rockslide, Dead Ringer), “which did a lot of great gigs over the years including recording in Nashville. Stephan and Yannick are Berklee music school trained (including Ottawa University). And then there is me, just hanging out with musicians.” Cale says he started playing as a three piece group with Stephan and Yannick a few years ago when they approached Danny to join.

“This would create BACA”, continues Cale, (BA for Barrette and CA for Cale), noting the word BACA means ‘heavy’. “BACA is relatively newly formed over the last few years. A lot of years played overall with these gents.”

“Danny,” adds Cale, “probably forty years plus, twenty-five to thirty for me. Stephan and Yannick, although young gents, have been playing music for roughly fifteen to twenty years already.” Cale says tonight will be the band’s second gig at The White Eagle/ The Office after making their debut pre-COVID.

“Our first gig a couple of years ago,” praises Cale, ” went over well at the White Eagle which we are honoured to play at, as owners Carrie and Eugene have worked hard to keep live music Rocking in good ol’ Kirkland Lake. Kirkland may be small, but a lot of musical talent kicking around. We are blessed to have their venue.”

  1. Thanks for the great write up Perry, much appreciated. Also a big thank you to Penny Fournel for doing a great photo shoot and always being there for us. Last but not least thanks to my brother Mike Barrette for joining us and blowing some great blues harp.
